Daraja Impact is a 5-year project that seeks to support Tanzanian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through the provision of capital and technical assistance to advance economic inclusion and empowerment for women and youth. Daraja Impact (or the “project”) is funded by the Swiss Confederation, represented by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs acting through the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania (“Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania”) and is implemented by Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (or “SEAF”) in partnership with AlphaMundi Foundation (or “AMF”)

Innovation for Social Change (ISC) program seeks to contribute to an ecosystem, in which thriving SMEs improve living standards of Tanzanians, especially poor youth and young women, as customers, suppliers, or employees. The program has 2 components. i. A Catalytic Fund (named Daraja Impact) which will invest in social enterprises with sustainable business models and impact introducing SDC pioneered innovative Impact Linked Financial instruments ii. A Conducive environment component to contribute towards a better operating environment for Start ups, SMEs and social impact investors. The theory of change for the program is an ecosystem where enterprises create increasingly intentional economic and social benefits for Tanzanians, especially poor youth, and young women who benefit as customers, suppliers, or employees of these enterprises.

SEAF

SEAF is a global impact investment management firm based in Washington, D.C., with offices across various regions. They focus on high-impact economic development by investing risk capital in entrepreneurs, fostering active business partnerships, and sharing knowledge and networks gained from over 30 years of experience. SEAF has managed numerous funds and entrepreneurship centers worldwide, making over 400 risk capital investments that benefit people financially, socially, and environmentally. Their approach ensures that investments generate returns for investors, promoting efficiency, accountability, and sustainability. SEAF has been active in Tanzania since 2015.

Alphamundi Foundation

AlphaMundi Foundation (AMF) provides structured blended finance products to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Africa and Latin America to help them scale their operations. The Foundation supports these companies to incorporate a gender lens and climate-smart practices into their operations, with a view to create attractive financial returns and positive social outcomes. Since commencing operations in 2018, AMF has managed 70 projects and supported 29 small and medium-sized enterprises across 12 countries in Africa and Latin America.
