The Social Impact Incentive (SIINC) will reward measurable gender inclusion outcomes, supporting women farmers and cooperatives to access knowledge, inputs, and market opportunities across Flamingoo Food’s value chain.

Katavi, Tanzania – November 2025AlphaMundi Foundation, through Daraja Impact program funded by the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania, has signed a Social Impact Incentive (SIINC) agreement with Flamingoo Foods, a Tanzanian agro-processing company driving data-enabled agriculture value chains.

The partnership will incentivize outcomes related to women’s empowerment, expanding women’s access to agricultural knowledge, quality inputs, and extension services. It will also promote women’s participation in organized distribution networks through female-led cooperatives engaged in the sale of Flamingoo Foods’ edible oil. This initiative aims to diversify income opportunities for women while advancing gender inclusion throughout the rice and oil value chain.

Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Food System

Based in Tanzania’s Rukwa Valley, Flamingoo Foods operates at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and inclusive agriculture. Working with nearly 1,000 smallholder farmers, half of whom are women, the company leverages AI-powered forecasting tools, climate data, and decentralized processing to connect surplus food regions with deficit zones across Africa.

By integrating technology with local sourcing and value addition, Flamingoo Foods reduces post-harvest losses, strengthens food security, and increases farmer incomes. The company has built a strong network of processing and storage facilities across the region, and supplies premium-grade rice and other staple crops to markets across Africa, including Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya.

While women play key roles in rice cultivation, they remain underrepresented in processing and trade. Through the partnership with Daraja Impact, the company will expand its gender-inclusive sourcing model, train more women smallholder farmers on agronomic farming practices for rice farming, scale access to irrigation and high-quality inputs, and embed gender-responsive hiring and procurement practices across its operations.

Driving Impact Through Innovation

The SIINC will also support Flamingoo Foods to expand the distribution network for its edible oil, utilizing milling byproducts for the production of a high-value food product while creating new income opportunities for women-led cooperatives. They will participate in the retail and distribution of the oil, positioning women more prominently within the food value chain. Through targeted training, improved access to inputs, and offtake opportunities, participating women farmers and entrepreneurs will gain stronger market access and more stable income streams, enhancing their economic resilience and agency.

This partnership further reinforces Flamingoo’s commitment to climate adaptation and circular economy principles, turning agricultural byproducts into sustainable consumer products that benefit both farmers and households.

“Daraja Impact has been a great enabler to further improve youth and women inclusion as well as climate resilience in Flamingoo Foods’ business activities. The support has been key to walking bold steps to change the status quo and making inclusion and resilience a core component in our company and the related value chains.”
